In March 2017 we published our first Population Assessment (PNA). Required under Section 14 of the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act, this assessment was carried out jointly by the three local authorities and Hywel Dda University Health Board, with input from users, carers and colleagues in the third and independent sectors. Please note, to respond to changes in data since the latest PNA was published in 2022, the text is in the process of being refreshed.
The Population Needs Assessment provides a data driven overview of care and support needs across the region. A range of data relating to the region and the constituent Local Authority areas is used to provide a comprehensive picture of current and future care and support needs and how these are being met.
In West Wales we have developed this tool to make our assessment readily accessible online in a user-friendly format. The data itself is refreshed automatically each time updates are released, with the narrative text updated at regular intervals throughout its 5-year cycle.
Section 14A of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act requires us to produce an Area Plan setting out how we will work together to address the findings and recommendations of our Population Assessment.
